I-70, Colorado's Glenwood Canyon to reopen Saturday

Truckers News Staff (TN)
Aug 11, 2021

The Colorado Department of Transportation today said the portion of Interstate 70 through Glenwood Canyon will reopen the afternoon of Saturday, Aug. 14.
CDOT crew have worked around the clock to remove thousands of tons of debris that landed on the critical route following heavy rains July 31.
Colorado Gov. Jared Polis and CDOT Executive Director Shoshana Lew visited the I-70 corridor in Glenwood Canyon today to survey the damage caused by mudslides in the surrounding area, as well as view progress made to clean up and reopen the canyon route.

The news release has been reworded to say "partially reopen", what ever that means.

It means one lane in each direction is open. The road cannot handle all lanes open yet. So it may be slow going in that area or be more congested but at least it doesn't mean you have to make a long detour now. Maybe now our Hwy 50 where we live won't be so busy since we live where traffic would detour to. We went over Monarch Pass last week and the traffic was very heavy.
