Now I know Im going to need a weight reduction hitch, the guy who installed my break controller suggested it, since its that and or an air bladder in the rear coilsprings... I read someone on th Rav4 forum spent like $1800 getting custom springs welded in to stiffen up its rear end... Thats out of my price range... broke now, but have an egg!

The word of a winter storm on the east coast cut short my trip...I really wanted to go to Colonial Williamsburg for a day and just hang out and enjoy the trailer.... but the ride home was pretty easy. I did hav to lower the breaking strength when I had to slam on the breaks and felt my Rav4 pullin backwards cause the trailer breaks were set at like 85% lol. 65% seems pretty comfortable.

The trailer weighs about 2100lbs empty, only had the 2 propane tanks full so it wasn't bad towing it. Im sure normally it will be around 2500lbs for normal trips, still a thousand pounds below my max tow weight. I barely felt it behind me. The first stretch of the ride home was at 55mph and I averaged 16.5mpg. The 2nd tank was at 65-70mph and averaged 13.5mpg big difference.

Two things I notice from the pictures, you have a squat when hooked up, you may need a w/d hitch to shift some weight to the front axle. I also remember seeing Parkliner's dual battery set up and it was wired incorrectly. The feeds go to the positive on battery A and the negative on battery B, Parkliner had the leads going to A battery only, which is incorrect. Can not tell from pictures if it wired correct.

Yeah, I was figuring I would be getting the weight distribution hitch, my little red gypsy cart I built had a tongue weight around 180lbs and I saw how it made my truck squat. I just need to take measurements for which weight distribution hitch I need and order and install it...

Now for the dual batteries, I will have to check... dont remember off the top of my head. I am debateing adding a battery selector switch like I had on my boat so I would have the option of turning them off if there was ever an issue.

I also have to add some 12 volt sockets... unless they are hidden somewhere, I cant find them lol. I have 2 new ones I need to add!

thanks!

That is one nice thing about the Parkliner and EggCamper, ease of finding a 12v circuit and adding an outlet or running a new dedicated 12v circuit to your socket.

Thanks!

Gonna be a few projects, I spoke with Chandler and the early models there is no wireing diagram, so Im gonna have to turn everything on, pull a fuse and look to see what went off and label it... wont be so bad but good to know for the future. Might wait till the spring when I can heat a tank of water and have the fridge on 12 volt so I can figure it out.

Need to find out what bulb type is used in the lights so I can get some led's. Any good sources for them?

thanks

Thumbs up

congrats on your new adventure rig, looks great!

On the super bright leds site...I've done business with them for over ~3 years and their service is top notch and products A1. I replaced nearly all bulbs in our 38ft mobile suite with their LEDs.

On the Parkliner...
My wife and i are researching eggs, and plan to purchase this year. Sure like what Parkliner is doing from what i can research on the web. Would luv to see one up close, though since i live in Oregon the chance is probably slim. That said my wife and i bought our mobile suite pretty much off research only...and luv it for our full time home. We will be pulling an egg with our chevy awd 1500 van conversion. Probably wouldn't even know a parkliner was behind us : )

Happy Trails,
Thom

Thanks Thom! This is my first caravan that I didn't build myself... hopeing it will be with me for a long time to come! Yeah led's are in my future...got to workwith the paycheck lol but yeah just for saveing battery life... the led's are important!

If you were local I'd say come over and take a look but you are a long drive away. I did offer to Chandler that if anyone in my neck of the woods wants to see one they are more then welcome to stop on down and see it!

Didn't Chandler say on his facebook post that they have no database of contact info of owners? So if you want the contact info of an owner in your area you are on your own finding it. That was my experience when I contacted him.

Was any of your contact info taken down? Just curious. You ever chit chat with Harry by any chance? He seemed like a real interesting person.

Edit: I should clarify, I wondered if you occasionally talk or email every now and again that's all.
