Norm Helmkay's "62 Ultravan. Built on a modified Corvair. The corners are FG, and the flat pieces are aluminum. He says that there were 375 built and 125 are still liscensed and on the road.

If you're really interested in Corvair Ultravans do a google search.
Trailer Life recently had an article on them too.

Yes, these are too cool! We saw one last winter at Quartzsite - many features seemed "ahead of their time", and the current owner LOVED it! Happy trails - L 'n D

Hmmm. Looks a little like the Oxygen, doesn't it? Of course, it's not a trailer like the Oxygen.

(Okay, okay. I guess technically the Oxygen looks a little like the Ultravan!)

Ooh, I like that!

Small like a Boler but all-in-one like a Winnebago!

About 20 years ago we camped during the winter for a few days at the Salton Sea, CA State Park. Each day about 10AM an older couple that looked to be in their '80s would pull in with one of those, park next to a palm tree and spend the day. They spent most of the day in their folding lawn chairs reading.

I don't know where they spent nights, but just figured they were local retired folks that enjoyed coming there when the weather was nice. Their rig was well kept, appeared fully functional and seemed ideal for their use.
