What type of "compound" should we use with our buffer to get the rest of these decals off without damaging the gel coating? The shell itself has a beautiful shine it just has these decals that need to be removed so that we can put the new ones on.

some updated pics

Here are a couple of updated pics of the work in process. We have removed all the doors. The doors and all of the wood inside the trailer have received 1 coat of white primer, the second coat will most likely go on tomorrow with the lower cabinets receiving a fresh new color after that. It already looks a lot better with the dark green color gone.

New interior color to brighten things up a bit. Much better than the dark green that was in there before.

Would it be fair to joke that you've been feeling blue lately? It's a nice shade of blue. I foresee some matching blue curtains (or perhaps blue and white?) in your future!

LOL! We actually prefer to oak/maple look but unfortunately the previous owner took that option away. My wife is the designer and she was looking at either white or yellow curtains in the future. I agree it is a very nice shade of blue though.

starting to come together

Things are starting to come together on our repairs/remodel of our 19 ft Scamp 5th Wheel. We reinstalled the bed mattress, some of the cabinet doors, installed a new city water connection, fixed the plumbing leaks, installed a new quick connect 30 amp plug, installed a new fuse panel with new converter, breakers and fuses. Tomorrow we are taking it in to our RV mechanic to get all the windows properly resealed to prevent any leaks. Once we get her back then we will work on instlling the new vinyl plank flooring, finishing installing the cabinet doors and working on rebuilding the kitchen cabinet. Click image for larger version

new flooring

We are making some good progress on our restoration project. We have now reinstalled the steps, all of the cabinet doors with the exception of the sink side cabinet which is yet to be reinstalled. We had the windows resealed by our local RV mechanic, and we made sure that the weep holes are all open too. The biggest improvement is the installation of the new flooring (see attached pics), it is really starting to come together. So much so that we will be taking it to San Diego this coming weekend.

p.s. we think we discovered why the kitchen cabinet fell off the wall. It appears that the previous owner when they remodeled the cabinet cut about 6 inches of the bottom front of the cabinet off. They replaced this solid piece of plywood with 4 L brackets in an attempt to support the cabinet. Surfice it to say this experiement did not work. We will be replacing the plywood to give it back the needed support hopefully tomorrow and then finish rebuilding the cabinet from there.

Big problem is that I am too tall for the Scamp, I keep hitting my head on the door and the a/c. Plus our 3 dogs aren't too keen on sharing the space with us. Hopefully someone will be very happy with her in the near future.

We have a lead on a Bigfoot Silver Cloud that we are working on getting. It is a 1987 so little older but a beauty.

The Silver Cloud is in great condition and besides routine maintenance does not need repairs. But yes, at least now should things go wrong we have some experience in how to fix things which is a big plus. The biggest issue was getting out of our own comfort zone and seeing what we actually could do on our own.

I was amazed by the lightning-fast progress of your rehab! Nice work.

I believe it was Cindy and Kevin (?) that bought a Silver Cloud and discovered an inherent sway-inducing imbalance. The resolved it with a fancy WDH- don't recall the brand- that changed the physics by moving the pivot point. The Silver Cloud is such a rare model that I really don't know if their situation was an aberration or a design issue, just a caution as you start out.

You should be able to turn up their old posts using the google search bar.
