Inflatable Truck Topper

What do you folks think of this product? This may help with the storage for a pickup bed.
My wife says someone would steal our stuff since it is not solid.

It's inspiring when new products like this come to life. I am taken aback by the cost of their items, which seems comparable with "real" camper shells, cargo carriers, etc. Do these really provide enough versatility to justify the cost?

I was surprised too. But the cost of a truck top is about $2500. I saw other companies are selling the type of item.

I like the idea. Let’s you have protection and storage when needed, then easily remove when not. Security? I mean, how secure how the Leer type toppers?

I tend to think of inflatable as being disposable. But then I recall a fella I met rafting on the North Fork River in Missouri. I complimented his boat and I was surprised to learn it was from the ‘80s. I still think exposure to the elements will greatly shorten the life of this “hardware”.

Theft issue

I had a soft topper on a Tacoma for years and never had a theft problem. Camped all over the eastern U.S. It's really like anything else - if a thief wants in, they will get in. The bad guys are always ahead of us.
As far as lifespan and durability, with the advanced materials and glues/gluing methods out now, I would imagine there's a good chance of it lasting a while.
Of course, I would take it off when I didn't need it just to extend it's potential. However, the sun and weather can beat just about anything down eventually.
I do think it's pricey compared to hard shells that everyone is familiar with. Maybe they should have shot for a lower price point to entice buyers.

Just my opinion.
