Information on Fiberglas trailers

My wife and I have been looking at T@B trailers which are nice but too small and very expensive for what you get. We have now switched to looking at the fiberglas trailers because of their light weight and it seems from reading, people seem to be happy with them. I noticed that Casita's are nice looking and look like they are well built. Several are for sale but when I check NADA against what they are asking for them they are asking 2-3 times what NADA said they are worth. I know there must be an explanation but if someone knows, please let me know.

What is the best trailer (fiberglass) for the money. That may be asking which is best Ford or Chevy but maybe there are some trailers or years that should be avoided. I would appreciate any information.

Good luck with your trailer search! You might check the Trailers for Sale section to help get a feel for what they are going for. Also, features that you want and need are possibly more important than a particular brand. (Bed size, bathroom, etc., etc.) And the Buyer's Checklist can help you evaluate a potential candidate. We found an older Trillium that was very lightly used.

Just to answer one of your questions. The NADA pricing doesn't take into account the real market value of the eggs. The prices you are seeing are what the market bears for the eggs. Because they are very durable and in some respects short supply, an egg's asking price reflects that reality. That's not to say you can't find lower priced eggs, but they are fewer or farther between.

And not to be snide, but the best trailer for the money is the trailer you pick based on your needs, wants and wishes. If you are a fixit up sort of soul, an egg needing some rehab will let you make it into your own vision. If you would rather not rehab, a new or newer egg would be better.

The buyers checklist is an excellent tool for evaulating the eggs you find and an excellent tool for helping to determine exactly what your wishes are in reference to how you prefer to camp.

Hi: Our'77 Boler came with an original brochure and the price written on it $2998.00 + options. Acording to NADA the trailer would be worthless. At $3100 I thought it was "worth IT". A new 2006 13' Scamp would have been $10795.00 + options. So far we have put a further $2000. in up grades and repairs and it is "A labour of LOVE"

Hi Mike....
For three years i spent every day looking all over the internet for a fiberglass trailer that was close by and in good shape (most are by the way).....there where very few out there and like you say the prices where 2 to 3 times higher than NADA. finally found one about 500 miles away for $5800 in excellent condition. It is a 94' Casita SD 16'.......I couldn't be Happier to find one

Joe, sounds like you lucked out. Thanks for your reply and I will keep on looking. We have a pop up and I kinda have to convince the wife that we need a trailer already set up.
