Hi Ches,
As you can see, my stomping grounds are mostly prairie, thus, pretty flat, but I would say that 28 out of the last 30 vacations were to the Rocky Mountains, so your pics really attracted me. I love snow and rocks (maybe not in that order).

If Jana or I ever get a chance to visit you will we have to smuggle rocks back accross the boarder? My cousin in Denver says the mountains are shrinking because I take so many rocks back home each trip. My husband has started taking a milk crate and limiting me to what I can carry in it.

Thanks for starting this thread. I love to see our darling little FG eggs, but also like to see things that take others breath away enough to take a picture of it.

Can't help but comment on your "rock fetish"! I am also so afflicted. For years, everytime I returned from Ireland (3 or 4 trips a year) I would bring back SOME MORE lovely rocks. I know beaches there where the rocks will take your breath away. Anyway, I built a rock garden in my front patio: 3x5' with sides of 2x8" timber. Filled it with sand and now I can make arrangements of my rock collection. (A little at a time as they all would never fit!) Ah, but sadly, after I had smuggled out a total of something like 400 pounds worth of Irish landscape, my dear wife said "Please don't bring any more rocks home!" *sigh* But she's right: we have more than enough Irish rocks now and for time to come. This doesn't even count the ones we find here and there on our travels.

The Irish have plenty of rocks, and won't miss 'em. An old farmer once saw me picking up rocks on the beach that abuts his land and I could tell by his quizzical look that I should say something to him about what I was doing and why. I joked that I was "stealing his rocks." He replied, "Take 'em all and my blessings on you! And there's more up here in my field if you'd like them as well!"

I guess our rock hounding isn't all that unusual, after all, they brought some back from the Moon, so I would say that your Irish rocks made a short trip.

I think that rock garden sounds like a great idea.....a little Ald Sod that you can visit every day. My rocks are strung out in little areas all over the yard and in the house. I had dreams of one day building a back yard waterfall and using all my transplanted pieces of the country, but alas, that is another todo that never seems to get done.

If only Nicky (aka Ricky) would have thought of that... :)

Course I don't know - doing that COULD have the effect of limiting the number of rocks - COULD also have the effect of encouraging you to work out so you can lift more. :)

The box restriction is for volumn control more than weight control. You should see some of the boulders I carried home before he put his foot down.

As we arrived home here in Windsor Locks from a weekend in Boston I was able to catch this marvelous early fall sunset over Bradley International Airport. It changed second by second to different shades of orange and red. Enjoy. Unfortunately, you can't get your TT out there! This is Inistuisceart, just off the coast from my home village in Ireland. It is one of the Blasket Island group and is uninhabited, although there are the remains of a medieval ecclesiastical settlement there. It is sometimes called "the deadman," or "the sleeping bishop."

I see that some of us are old enough to remember the 1954 film, "The Long, Long Trailer", with Lucille Ball & Desi Arnaz? I remember seeing it on the big screen. I loved the cliffhanging ride through the mountains with a load of rocks. It's so funny because we all do it. One day, I'll wake up to find Colorado in my front yard.
