Last time it actually snowed in Houston was Dec-04' .

We are going to sleep in the trailer tonight, just for the fun of it!

Perfect time to test the Propane Furnace if you have one. I like mine, but more often use a little Pelonis Cube Heater that makes the insides nice & toasty. You may notice t a little radiated cold near the walls as the fiberglass & insulation isn't always 100%.

You'll also find out how much charge capacity your 12V battery has as it's the power source for your propane furnace. Mine needs replacing, another reason I use the cube heater.

Enjoy the Snow! It ain't often you see it in your neck of the woods. and I'm sure it won't stay long.

Wow, how fun!

It's been pretty chilly here the last three nights. I actually cleaned out the house furnace and used it before bed.

Happy camping in the snow, April! I'm excited for you.
I got a birthday present in late October in North Carolina:
Enjoyed walking in the woods during a beautiful, crisp day, woke up about 1 am to the sound of sleet (or something) for a couple minutes, then silence. Here's what morning brought us:

Wow, we are still waiting for our first snow here on Vancouver Island (Canada isn't all snow and ice). Ski hills are getting worried as they should have opened 2 weeks ago.

Wow, that's crazy... snow in Houston.
Waaaaay up here we have just barely a skiff just to remind us that winter is supposed to happen (which will be on Sunday when the overnight low is forecast to be -28C )

Gee.. all this SN*W talk (sorry but that is a 4 letter word in MY book) suddenly makes me feel way better about the foggy / overcast mornings we have been having here in California's Great Central Valley. Highs have still been in the low 60's. Thank GOD my folks moved to California back in the 50's.

Backstory on their decision to move... our family is from the Pittsburgh area - my Great, great great great grandpa, Wilhelm Weinel was a preacher in western PA... anyway after WWII, my dad's brother settled in Sacramento. He kepy writing letter to pop about how NICE it is.. no snow and cold... no coal and soot and crap.... This went on for 11 years. Finally in 1956 we came out for a visit. 1957 we moved. THANK YOU POP!!!!!!!!!!

Peter, that's because you went to Port Alberni - it always snows on that pass. However, spoke too soon, getting snow tomorrow.

True, true. It did snow as I headed eastbound over the pass, but those pics were taken the next morning at the Living Forest campground in Naniamo on the "warmer" east coast of the island and on my way to the ferry.

8* F here in Eastern Iowa this morning. Had snow and ice earlier in the week. It keeps the riff-raff out.

BTW we do have occational parties back there, with live music! Good times!

That "tent" is a screen house that used to have an inflatable hot tub inside, sadly, after Ike, and having to take it down, the hot tub bit the dust... so now it just has chairs. Maybe it will have one of those 10' inflatable ring pools inside for next summer.

The snow was fun, but didn't even last till morning.
