Knutschkugel

My (German) mother-in-law informs me that the German term for little trailers like my new 13' Burro is Knutschkugel.

This was originally used to describe the old BMW Isetta, but is now used for tiny vehicles generally. It means "cozy coach" or more crassly, "french-kissing sphere/wagon/bubble/pod." Meaning: if you're sharing that thing with somebody, we hope you know them pretty well!

Anyway, thought you all would like to know.

I'll have to remember that. How do you pronounce that word properly?

Actually, it sounds more like a delicious treat at your local German bakery. I like mine with nuts and frosting on top.

Sounds like a food booth at Nordic Fest.

This morning I tried several words and listed to each of the different speakers. While I knew how the words should be pronounced and knew that they were not English words, not one of the speakers was able to get any of the words. I'd be careful about thinking the pronunciation on this site is anywhere near accurate.

The pronuncation of the German speakers is quite correct, except for the accent, that has to be on the first syllable.

And thank you from a British forum of microcar enthusiasts, including Isettas, who enjoyed the information. 'Snogpod' may become the new word for these - in British English they are known collectively as 'bubble cars' - though 'French-kissing sphere' does sound sweet.
