That could be one method of keeping the hole open except when observing through binoculars (not me) they don't always use the privacy of the shack.

Cyndi B,
Did you know that in some parts of Canada and US that there are literally small villages set up on the ice? Complete with streets and your corner store?
Entire families come out and stay in the ice shacks (some look like houses) all week end long. You see every kind of thing that you can imagine and some you just shake your head over.

I have no idea where Shawano is but the picture could have been taken on Long Point Bay on the north shore of Lake Erie. Only double the number of shacks.

Alf:
I can think of better ways. I guess they use to race cars on the lake on an oval track. Obviously something must have happened to curtail that. It's more populated the closer you get to the two towns. I suppose closer to resupply. And there's jogging involved as you run from hole to hole when you bell goes off. I hope our 4 legged social butterfly doesn't discover there's humans out there.

now here is were you need to be in the winter time, not on a lake freezing your whatever off.
It is a lot closer to being finished now and even has a hitch for pulling the Casita.

It wouldn't take much to be closer to being finished from that picture.

Hey Jim. Nice 1953-1955 Ford F-100!!!! I know it's not a 56... that's a slat cab. Looking at the dash... I'm betting it's a 53.

Cyndi - that's what Shawano Lake looked like when we went by on December 26 and saw your lonely Scamp sitting in the snow. Parts of the Grand River in Michigan look like little ice shanty towns when it freezes, with some even driving their trucks out there. I was afraid to cross country ski across a lake, I certainly wouldn't drive a truck on it!

Jim I would suggest you get some doors on that before you drag it out on the lake.

The guys my son rides with at work think my 5ver would look good on the ice. NOT! They loose a snowmobiler every once in a while on the Coralville Resavoir in Iowa where we are from and usually the body is not recovered until spring. And Greg's Uncles have lost a few cars on the ice in Faribault, MN. Creeps me out. Our cabin neighbor was saying it was a good thing the dog hasn't (not yet but there are humans out there) gotten into a habit of going out on the ice because in the spring they are no smarter to stay off it then humans.

I really enjoy ice fishing. I haven't figured out how to avoid driving on the ice, without spending more money than I have available.
