Member needs our prayers

Many members here know Steve Labroad and many have wondered why we have not heard from Steve all summer, well I wondered as well as I couldn't reach him by phone or e-mail and here is the reason why.
Steve is in the hospital under acute care and has been since late July. He collapsed at work with a severe pancreatic problem and has endured multiple surgeries, several of them with odds as low as 50-50. Only a week ago he actually "coded" as a result of an abdominal bleed and had to be jump-started. As terrible as that sounds - and he is truly one sick puppy - he is a stubborn fellow and is actually making slow, slow progress. But his doctors tell us he is not out of the woods and his recovery will be a matter of months.
I have been in touch with family and will keep everyone updated on his progress, they have not revealed to me which hospital Steve is in so I am unable to report that.
Please keep Steve in your prayers.
Thanks
Roy Bakehorn

Thank you Roy,
It would be interesting to know if the hospital he is in has an email forwarding service for patients. Some of them will now print off emails and deliver them to the rooms. It would be nice to send him our wishes personally.

Alternatively you might be able to send his family a link to this thread and they could follow it printing off the latest wishes every now and then.

Thanks, Frederick. I needed a memory jog as well. Once I saw his avatar I made the connection:

From his father, younger sisters and brother, thank you for the kind thoughts and prayers for Steve. Steve's condition is complex and he apparently still has a long way to go. If anyone is moved to help keep him motivated with a card, here is the mailing address for his current location:

Quote:
Select Specialty Hospital
Attn: Steve LaBroad
5301 E. Huron River Drive
Ypsilanti, MI 48197
He is currently in room 757, but I'd just mark anything attention Steve, as his room is subject to change as he transfers back and forth occasionally between other hospitals for various procedures.

Thanks again for your concern and good wishes. Steve is looking forward to a day when he can cozy up in Castle Pretentious with an ice-cold root beer and log in to the forums for some online camaraderie.

Thanks for the update, Brad. I see from your Trailer type that you share Steve's sense of humor!

Now, what kind of card would Steve actually think is funny...

These things are always such a "News Flash" about how uncertain this life really is. Makes me want to "re-assess" once again. God Bless you Steve and get well quickly. The Forum needs your Tech Support.

Wishing you a speedy recovery Steve. You need to be well and strong again in time for Roy,s fish fry in the spring. Otherwise we are likely to all show up on your doorstop and camp there for a few days. Wouldn't THAT stir up the neighboorhood!!!

Just a quick update: Steve is continuing the long march of recovery and making excellent progress. He has just been moved from acute care to in-patient rehab, which is a terrific step forward. He'll probably be there for a couple or a few weeks, depending on how fast he can rebuild his strength and mobility. His mailing address is in my profile under "interests" if anyone would like it.

Cheers!
