We need rain in upstate New York...having a mini-drought....not much at all last 3 months...got some last night but still behind average....Mother Nature can be cruel.... please no global warming or climate change talk....the climate is always changing...I call it "seasonal".

Seems Texas has gotten way more than it's fair share!

Red face It 'was ever thus

1913 was especially bad:

The Great Dayton Flood in March and

Great Lakes Storm of 1913 in November.

1937: Ohio River Flood

I voted to save some of this rain for July and August but I guess my vote got lost! Our rivers are all flooded our personal favorite state parts( because they are close to us) are flooded out and closed for who knows how long even after the water goes down.
Oh and there is more rain coming next week.

The only bright spot is that the Edwards Aquifer District and several other agencies are now saying the drought here is over.

We had a key low water crossing in our town closed for a full week. Just opened yesterday. Hill country is sure green these days!

I feel sorry for you and all the flood damage it's caused.
I cannot imagine loosing everything.
Hopefully your drought is history.

There will be real problems for non flood area people in the future. Those dried up, undamaged appearing, rolling computers will be totaled by the insurance companies, bought by unscrupulous auto wholesalers, taken to another where they can get a clear title and then sell sold to an unsuspecting buyer..
If you're going to buy a used car in the coming months BE CAREFUL.

I'm thinking about washing my dog once in the while when I take a shower, it's that desperate here.

I just got rid of my last Rose Bushes.
Since Christmas I've cut my water usage by 1/3
Half my front yard is a cactus garden.
Now the roses are gone the rest is going to be a waterless rock/cactus garden.
It's great to live in the land of the extreme environmentalist, extreme drought and $3.60 gas.

Good luck to all of you flood victims.

John

The weather is great in Florida except it does rain and we don't have an income tax....

In KS, we had a very dry winter but now the yard is soaked and it has started to sprinkle again. My husband was supposed to have vacation this week but we were too afraid that the campgrounds would be muddy and the water high, two conditions I don't care for and some of the back roads are closed so rescheduling vacation.

What is so bad is that KS has been under drought conditions for years. We get all this rain now and then it heats up and burns everything. We're mowing once per week but it really should be mowed twice. And, the bug population is exploding!

I have noticed that in town the bugs are bad but out camping, not at all. Natural predators are what it is all about. Maybe I should buy a lizard or two for the house.

We are in Emporia. I saw that rain going just north of us. We got dark skies and some sparse sprinkles so we should be good until next week at least. We have problems south of town and it shuts people off from coming to work. The Fanestil plant is rebuilding as last year, it was a nightmare for their employees. It ruined a baseball field and caused problems for the zoo last year too.
