Mystery Gift Opening

This years Christmas morning gift opening will be spent opening boxes that came but no one knows who they belong too. I may unbox something I really like not intended for me. It could be like the Holiday Office party where everyone brings a gift with no name then everyone has a turn to decide if they like another person's gift better then the one they got.

Just hope DH gets home from Montana to Iowa.

Have a safe and Happy Holiday!

Happy Holiday's to you Cyndi. Having a loved one away from home is tough, especially this time of year. I often think of those that have service personnel members who are taking care of business for the rest of us... and am grateful that I have people around me that keep me happy and sane. You also have a safe and Happy Holiday!

What's wrong with wishing people a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year? I'm a Christian but would not be offended if someone wished me a happy Hannakuh (sp?). I'd take the wish in the spirit it was offered and say thank you.

Me too, but I have a different perspective about saying "happy holidays". I am in and out of many schools each day, and it's a fast paced job. I could say "Merry Christmas and happy New Year," but that's a long thing to say when in a hurry. So I often just say "happy holidays." Not that I am discounting the reason for the season, since I am also a Christian and it means a lot to me. But I don't think there's anything wrong with saying "happy holidays" either. It's easier to say and easier to type, that's all.

I tend to be a Happy person and it just makes me feel good to remind others to be Happy too! ! In all the years I worked I have used ALL the holidays listed in one form or another. Because I "know and understand" Merry Christmas & Happy New Year...that is what I use most often. but I am sure glad when someone wishes me a Happy______! because then I know they are happy in their life too.

Merry Christmas everyone! I will be basking in the glow of a happy family of seven this Christmas and I hope all of you the best this holiday. May the new year bring you all happiness! (even though I am a troll, I sincerely mean no offence by this)

The mystery was solved this early afternoon at gift opening. My oldest son didn't have to take a pink hoodie from Cabela's. He was glad. I got a new computer and Windows 8. My son says my life with a computer will be forever changed.

Cool beans Cyndi! Although your son may have looked handsome in a pink hoodie... and he could always tell folks he was a breast cancer survivor supporter

I can't list everything we got here because I can't remember them......LOL
We don't do Christmas but we do start buying up a lot of "stuff" starting at Hanakkuh.
Well, maybe before that........LOL

Wife did get me a new laptop. I couldn't figure out why I was having so much trouble.
We also bought the wife's mother a new all-in-one computer. It was Windows 8.
We took it back. After that I knew why I was having such trouble. Windows 8.
My sister in law tried to fix m-i-l's computer but couldn't do it. Windows 8.
Other sister in law said her and her husband were going to have a new computer built with Windows 7. M-i-l now has a WOW computer. Problem solved. It is built on the Linux.

I'm getting around in mine now, but I think it's because I'm going through Google Chrome now. I hate Windows 8. I have Google Chrome on my mac-mini desk top so they are both kinda similar, sorta. I don't know anyone around here that likes Windows 8.

I still long for the Windows 3.1

Windows 8.1 is working fine

I had to get a new laptop recently, and got a HP Pavilion with Windows 8; however, we had Staples (where it was purchased) upgrade it to 8.1 for only $9. You can download 8.1 yourself, but letting Staples do it leaves them responcible for any hick-ups!
8.1 has all the recent fixes Microsoft made to 8.

It took a bit of getting used to, as it opens to a page of app choices, but once I installed Google Chrome, I was back in business with my bookmarks and gmail all there.

Something to consider~
Best,
Fran

from what i've been told----windows 8 works best with a touchscreen. without one, the "classic" mode is recommended.
but linux is excellent. no windows 8 for us.

I don't have the touch screen model, Theresa, and do use the 'classic' mode.
It works for me.

I also got a new lap top for Christmas and found this site to have some great tips to make it feel like my old machine a bit faster.

Santa Brought You Windows 8.1? Here is what to do first.
