Need suggestion for shipping a fiberglass camper

I am soon to be the proud owner of a 1999 17 foot Burro (thank you Joel in Siler City!) I live in Austin, TX and can't see myself driving cross country to pick it up and haul it back here - especially when this will be my first time towing (and I don't have the time off since I just came off of medical leave.)There are a few companies out there that will ship my egg and the price ranges go from dirt cheap to over 2000.00. I thought I had picked one that will charge around 750.00 but now am afraid I'm getting what I pay for. It surprises me because the cheaper ones say they will put it on an open trailer and the more expensive ones say they will tow it! I think I'd rather have a company that will put it on a trailer and not put 1600 miles on the camper - especially if it's cheaper! Does anyone have any suggestions? Anyone used any of these companies and have any experiences? I'd appreciate any feedback.

Some of our members have used this site:
uShip - The Online Shipping Marketplace - Ship Freight, Furniture, Cars or Moves

How about a thread for people on the move across the country who would be interrested and willing to tow a trailer for someone who can't make the trip?

The u-ship website is fantastic and it did the trick. I found a very nice and helpful driver - at a great price! Thanks

Would suggest that the ones who where cheaper and said they would put it on a trailer are doing it as a back haul - in other words they had a job with a full load going in one direction but nothing to head home with on the trailer (no pay load) - back haul jobs are often cheaper.

Definitely - I will let everyone know how it goes once the delivery is complete. The man that is doing it seems very nice and has been in frequent contact with me. He plans to pick it up next Friday and have it to me on Sunday. He had a great price and is hauling several things back to the west coast from the east. In using the U-ship website, when you accept a bid, they have you put a small amount of money down and the site charges a $20.00 booking fee. He may be picking up a hauling trailer on his way to me so my Burro may end up being on a trailer and not have to have 1600 miles put on the tires - but either way - it seems like a much more economical way to get it here. It would have cost me a lot more with gas and wear and tear on my car - as well as time off of work.
