new Casita Insurance

I just got my new 03 Casita 17' Liberty Deluxe, and now looking at insurance. We contacted our car insurance company and got a quote back that's over twice the rates I have seen on this and other forums. We are in California ( near the bay area) and we were told about $130 per 6 mos. I wonder what other Casita owners are paying and if we in CA are just getting stiffed again.

Just got my annual insurance bill for the Casita from State Farm ... US$189 with a $500 deductible. Covers theft and physical damage to rig.

Liability is covered under auto policy because the trailer would be attached to the tow vehicle to be moving.

Insurance

I just changed my insurance company for the home owners, car, truck, and 17 Casita. Allstate insurance just kept going up and we had been with them for over ten years with only a couple of minor claims. Traveler's insurance was $500 a year cheaper. The Casita's insurance was $115 a year with $100 deductible on comprehensive and $250 on collision for replacement. This includes $3000 coverage on the contents.

Annual rate, Doug ... pay it once a year. I'm in Illinois, out in the country ... I know location (home residence) can affect the rate (even though the trailer's all over the map!)

Scamp 5er Insurance

We just got a quote from State Farm for annual premium of $285 with $250 deductible. We are in south central IL. Seemed a bit high but appears to be in line with what others are paying.

Scamp 5th Wheel Insurance

Just got the word from State Farm that they had quoted my insurance premium incorrectly. With $500 deductible it will be right at $213 a year. $250 deductible would have been a couple bucks higher. Just wanted to pass that along. We debated even worrying about insurance but there were too many loopholes in the coverages afforded under the auto and homeowners policies where we would have lost big time in the event of an accident

They did look over the specs for the trailer and were amazed at the light weight and many other assets. It did make a difference in how they underwrote the coverage. They have all scheduled visits to see the trailer in person as they were impressed with the fiberglass trailers and wanted lots of info. I referred them to this website for that.
