The problem with these for
boondocking is the current draw. In a 24 hour period if it ran 40% of the time it would use up about 30 amp-hrs. In a couple of days it would suck the life out of a
battery with no other loads.
Perhaps in the south with a large
solar panel set-up it would be feasable. However the initial cost would likely shift the decision back to
propane unless one might be full-timing.
What's great about this is that there is this possibility to be free of purchasing power. Just a short time ago this wasn't even slightly an option.
