New exclusion on camper insurance

We bundle insurance for home and auto and include our 2010 EggCamper in that bundle, as well (through a locally popular company). We just got our renewal notice, and it included a new list of exclusions for the camper. The policy now explicitly does NOT cover any loss due to: wet or dry rot, rust or corrosion, dampness of atmosphere, deterioration, mold, mildew or fungus due to decomposition and byproducts of such decomposition (followed by an extensive list of microorganisms that can cause mold and mildew). Anyone else seeing similar written exclusions showing up in their policy renewals?

Don't have those exclusions, but I would not expect that they would cover anything but real comp & collision claims. After all my car isn't covered for paint fading, or rust, or mechanical failure due to lack of maintenance.
You likely never had those coverages anyway, now it is clear and your insurance company is just practicing a little CYA.

Take a look at your roof coverage on your house! That has changed recently!

New Exclusions

Don't forget rodent damage .As an insurance appraiser we are told not to cover damage caused by mice and rats . Its like glass coverage it is only side and rear window .windsheild and sun /moon roof not covered.

If you look at your house policy it most likely excludes most of that also or has a limited coverage on it. Most RV's are only covered for theft, comp, collision only anyway. Should also be covered for theft of items in it.

Those sound like normal policy exclusions. Policies have specific items that are covered, and if the cause of loss is not within that list, their is no coverage. There is also a list of exclusions in the policy contract that more specifically confirm losses that are not covered. Interestingly, our rodent coverage is only excluded if the trailer is unoccupied, so if a rodent is chewing up our camper while we watch I guess it's covered!
"Exclusion # 12. caused by insects, birds, or other animals, including rodents and other types of vermin, while the vehicle is unoccupied and has been so for more than two weeks"

So spend the night in the trailer once every 2 weeks and you are covered!

Ha! We pretty much do that now that I'm retired.

From what I've seen here Insurance companies handle trailer insurance differently, with no 2 exactly the same.

Since when are windshields not part of glass coverage?

Our windshield is covered (comprehensive coverage). We usually have to have a rock chip repaired about once a year - all 100% covered. In fact, this last time the adjuster told us that because of the age of the windshield, we could replace it with no deductible if we wanted. Because of the timing, we just had it repaired again. Maybe replace next time if given the same opportunity.
