New Fiberglass Egg On Market

Noticed an ad in local classified today re a 17 ft all fiberglass trlr coming on the market in B.C. It looks a lot like Casita/Scamp and is sold factory direct for about 13k Can. Weight 1730 lbs and is called an ESCAPE which is what I use as a tow vehicle for my Aliner so I will have to check this baby out .

Escape

Thanks, JD, for the pics. I got them downloaded and, hopefully, resized so they will fit here.

Great looking trailer! This should be a real winner. Finally, some one captured my thoughts on where to put the door. I wonder how it will end up working out?

Candian or US Dollars

I'm assuming since this is Canadian made, this is Canadian Dollars. If so, it seems to be a heck of a deal.

Suz, I'm with you, I always thought the door should be back further also. But now looking at it and how much trailer is ahead of the wheels I wonder what the tongue weight is.

Great looking trailer though and a reasonable price. Any idea how much it weighs.
Nancy

Nancy, I was wondering about the weight, too. Then I just read JDs post and realized that both of our answers were in there.

Mine: It is Canadian Dollars
Mine and Yours: Weight is about 1730

OK, I'm obviously half blind. I didn't notice the weight in JD's post.

So a good looking trailer, fiberglass of course, decent weight, and a decent Canadian Price. YES!!! :banana Finally a fully equipped, lightweight, fiberglass trailer in Canada so all of us up here can quit envying you guys with your Casitas and Scamps.

Nancy

Dirty Glasses

>>OK, I'm obviously half blind. I didn't notice the weight in JD's post.

Don't feel bad. I missed both of them (weight and $)...I think I need to go clean my glasses!

That price is great! I've never seen a 17' Boler (only pictures), but it reminds me of that. The front dinette could easily be converted to bunk beds (it appears) so you could leave the large dinette by the kitchen up.

I hope that jdmac reports back after he sees one!

Sue and Nancy,
I plan on heading out for a trip in early June,as I will be passing by the plant I will get a chance to see one. They told me they are intersested in seeing my side AC setup as the roof on the Escape will not support a standard AC .
As for importing to USA,I"m sure there are lots of experts on this site who can comment. I Know that coming from the States to Canada you basicly pay your taxes(no duty)and a small admin or brokerage charge, providing the trailer is on the import list and almost all are.
cheers

Not to worry. Suz is short for Susie which is short for Sue....So, see you were more correct than you thought! ;)

New Fiberglass Egg on Market

This is a nice looking rig. Resembles a Boler in many ways.
Looks like it would price out close to $20,000 Cdn with Tax.
Another $500 to get it delivered North if not picked up.
Wonder if all the plans are for the same lay out inside.
The wood on the cupboard doors (I am being picky??)
don't seem match the wood type walls. Wonder if they are
injection molded doors. Or maybe it is just the angle with the light.
Vents on top also look like Bolers (17 ft ones)
I would park one in my yard anytime.
Willma

Dollars

I think the base price is $13,000 Canadian, which would make it about $9,800 US in today's market. Plus the shipping and other options, of course.

Escape Trailer Industries

Does anyone have a link to a website, nothing shows up on my google search.

For any of our friends south of the Canadian border:

The CDN dollar is making some great gains in the last few months, the current rate of exchange (as of 2003.05.26 14:46:05 GMT) is as follows:

1 CAD = 0.726859 USD 1 USD = 1.37578 CAD

Therefore 13,000.00 CDN = 9449.19 USD - but remember banks typically charge 2 to 3 percentage points more.

:wave

Conversion

Thanks, Rick. Sorry about the misquote. My supposedly instant up-to-date conversion wasn't so instant and up-to-date.

Many thanks for the correction.
