New lighter weight trailer - Meerkat
Just saw this while surfing the internet. Little Guy has a new light weight trailer that may work for some us who are trying to find something that we can tow with our smaller vehicles. It called a MeerKat. Go to Little Guy's sight and check it out. Need some feed back on this one.

Link to more pics/specs.
I've fantasized a lot about having a really tiny trailer "just for me", and I'm likin' everything about this one except the evident lack of a propane system. Specs describe an "icebox", and there's certainly no room for a propane tank on the tongue. And the countertop single butane burner shown in the below pic just wouldn't do for me.
Might be upfittable, though...any idea as to asking price?

It seems to me that there are a lot of seams.

Trailer details
I just called the number and got some more information about the trailer.
It is actually made by a company in San Diego California called Classic Trailers of San Diego. The sides are made of Aluminum and the top is Fiberglass.
It does have a 12 volt battery system which runs led lights, and also can be connected to 110 volt.
The only place that sell them is this place in San Diego, but he said he would be happy to ship them anywhere.
The price is $13,800 and he has one used one for $12,900.
He said he would email me pictures and I will try to post them when he does.

Thanks for following up, Laura.
I think this is one worth watching, at least for me. I wonder if I could just buy the empty shell and customize for my own purposes...
Looking forward to hearing what you find out!

Lisa M., here's what your daughter needs!
I'm really happy to see this. Garage height, poptop, similar in many ways to my 44 year old Campster.
Downside is that it is narrower than the Campster/compact series so you can't sleep sideways. Upside of that is more visibility when towing, though.

HA, yes i saw the above posts and i know the below idea shown on the little guy site dosen't work for everyone...BUT... when i saw this image of what their galley included i thought there is a manufacturer that is not afraid of thinking outside the RVbox!
It looks similar to how we went about making our galley work
So far this has been quite economical for us. Typically one $1.85 cartridge has been good for ~3 to 4 days of meals & tea/coffee water.
Cheers,
Thom

Trailer: 1973 13 ft Compact II

Five years ago, I came "that close" to buying an Eriba Puck...
...at the time, I was completely WOWED by it's cute factor.
Well, if you've ever been in one, you'll know that the aluminum walls are paper thin and carry many dents (kind of like Memory Foam...that easy to touch/bump and dent). The only thing that gripped me was it's turquoise appliances. Loved the retro color, as well as the attention given to the trailer's wood cabinetry.
A small 4 cylinder can pull a scamp or most other 13' trailers, so don't look at the Meercat for being sizably 'easier' to tow. How much easier is it to pull a 1,000-1,500 pound fiberglass trailer, complete with 3 or 4 burner stove, walls that might have beautiful and thick insulated diamond tufting and walls which are quite a bit more difficult to bend, break or dent.
Happy I passed up the Eriba Puck (and the new Meercat!) and am loyal and devoted to my 13' Compact II 1973.
Quite a price for the new Meercat as well as the '1' used Meercat!

Physical shape/resemblances aside: is the Meerkat aluminum, too? I thought it had a molded fiberglass body-?

At 5' wide and 6'5" high (top down for towing), the Meerkat will tow a fair bit easier than a 13' egg that's 6'8" wide and 7'-7'6" high. 30% less frontal area makes a difference.
It's cute, and I like it... but no shower and I don't know if there's an air conditioner, either.
Why is this listed on the Little Guy page, anyway? So is Aliner... did Little Guy buy Columbia Northwest? Or is this the page of a different outfit, one that sells all these brands?

Mike; this is a dealer that sells all the different brands. It threw me also, thought Little Guy had finally got the message of what some of us with smaller tow vehicles are looking for.
Something you can stand up in, that tows easily and is not full of stuff we don't need, just the basics. No tanks to empty. Don't have to go outside to fix a meal in bad weather. You set a water container under the sink and there is a hand pump to pump it up. Use a camp stove either inside or outside. If it stops working, just go buy a new one. All you really need to do is keep the water bottle filled and empty the porta potty. Sounds great for a person who likes to boondock.
