When Scamp installs only one roof vent, it is the escape hatch type. I don't know if it measures 22x22, but is certainly bigger than the standard size which I believe is 14x14. So, I'm thinking it shouldn't cause any problems with the structure. The only problem anyone has run into with a non-standard vent was when they needed to replace the vent cap and had a tough time finding one to fit.

Talking

This seems similar to the sun roof discussion a short time ago.

My Fiber Stream has 4 lateral ridges across the roof to add strength. They only allowed space for standard 14" x 14" vent openings between these ridges.

First question: why? What benefit will you get from expanding the roof vent to 22"x22"? Will the benefit compensate for the fact that your roof opening will no longer be a standard size for a vent fan or other accessory?

The Scamp escape vent is rectangular, more like 22x14.

I would be inclined instead to install a SECOND roof vent, maybe as a fantastical fan.

Two small vents are more useful than one larger one, plus all your hatches and hardware will be the common size if replacement is needed or you want to install rain covers, etc.

Dan,
My vote would go for a standard 14"X14" Fantastic Vent with the addition of a MaxxAire vent cover so it can remain open even in the rain.
The only reason I'd consider changing the size, is if there is no other escape hatch. Decisions, decisions, decisions.
