"Hi, My 1979 trillium 4500 needs a new
axle. I believe mine is original but can't be sure. It's welded on.
I have 10" drums showing Kelsey Hayes number 602026 and 027 on the backing plate for E-brakes and would like to reuse my drum with new backing plates I can get from e-Trailer for $100 if possible.
My outside frame dimension measured at the bumper is 53" and not 48". My present hub face measurement is 68" and not 67".
My present starting angle is about 20 degrees up and barely an inch of play up and down and the trailer is very bouncy."

If it's welded on- its probably original.
If I remember correctly - the original axles had tapered spindles, so your drums won't fit on newer axles, as the spindles will be straight.
There were 2 frame dimensions, but thought it was 54", not 53". Please check at the
axle weld point.
Hub face can be 67 or 68"
Original starting angle was 0 degrees. 20 degrees up is improbable as the tire would hit the top of the wheel well. 10 degrees DOWN would be OK to give more ground clearance, or if the trailer is heavy with lots of options/equipment. (Suggest 2500 lb. capacity)
Axle stock: That is an old post. No longer available through me.
