nuby question

How do you know how full the grey water tank is when you are only using water from the city hook up on a Casita 2019 model? does grey water start coming up through the shower floor drain or at the very least when full no longer drain in the shower or sink drains? My previous stick built had dummy lights that indicated how full the tank was my understanding is the Casita's do not. For the black tank, I assume you just open the toilet valve and look down. Haven't picked up the trailer yet, just trying to figure things out in anticipation when I drive up to the showroom in Rice and see my name printed on the door.

I refer to the level indicator gauge to get a rough idea, but without that, I think mine would start backing up in the shower.

Looking into the black tank through the toilet is also a reasonably good indicator of the black tank, as you suggest.

You could leave the drain valve open and draining into your hooked-up sewer with the gray tank, but not with the black tank.

If no sewer hookup at the campsite then Art has to go to a dump station or use a portable tank, so it's either wait until the sink backs up or guess when to dump the grey tank. Our old Casita has a valve to shut off the shower drain from the tank so it can't back up but I don't know how the new Casitas are set up. I've heard it's not a good idea to leave the grey tank valve open if you are hooked into the campground sewer in case there is a backup in the system that could back up into the trailer. I never saw this happen but someone claims they have. I now keep the grey valve shut and drain the tank every couple days.

You also want some grey water in the tank to flush the sewer hose after you empty the black tank. Black first, then grey!

I don't have either in my Scamp, but years ago I lived full-time in a larger travel trailer for 4 years, hooked up to water and sewer. I'm pretty regular in my habits, so after backing up into the shower once or twice I quickly learned how often I needed to dump.
