OMG! Nampa woman cited after Friday camper trailer crash

This is an eye opener about parking along the shoulder of a road:

Yikes!

That's one sad Scamp... and you're right, Donna- a great reminder of the perils of stopping on highway shoulders.

Here's what I'm confused about- I don't SEE any shoulder.

It almost looks like the Scamp was stopped in the road-?

There's a shoulder, but it is narrow and unpaved.

I don't see from these after-the-fact photos how one might determine where the trailer was at the time of the crash, although on the roadway at least partially in the travel lane does seem likely to me, too.

Information is good. Lack of information is not so good, but misinformation is much worse. Check facts, and apply common sense liberally.

The news commentator says "they were stopped on the side of the road." Whatever that means....

At about 44 seconds in on the video, there's a still shot of the scene that shows orange paint marking the shoulder-side position of the trailer (frame) wheel. It's on the pavement.

And there sure doesn't seem to be any wreckage, or even any riled up dirt, on the shoulder.

It was Mrs. Williams, who was driving the car that hit the trailer that got sited for 'inattentive driving'.

I know that road. Almost got into a nice motor scooter, pickup crash. A farmer was parked along side the road and decided to pull across the road right is front of us then stopped across both lanes. We managed to turn into a dirt lane and slow down a bit before the scooter went out from under us. (us = two people on the scooter.) Those country roads around Nampa often have farmers parked mostly off the pavement. Anybody that drives the area should know this and watch out.
