I am looking at a trailer today claimed to be a 13' 1982 Casita. On the Casita website it says they have been around since 1983. What's the story here? Is this probably just a very early model or??? If it is, is there anything special I should be aware of that they hadn't figured out yet or anything?
This is what I'm looking at this afternoon:
1982 Casita?
Thanks!

From my observations, it IS a Casita. The characteristics I base my ID on:
1. The profile of the bottom shell around the wheel wells and behind the wheels.
2. Interior use of Carpet. (Not Ensolite, Not "Rat Fur")

So the question of authenticity of [b]1982? Could this be the 1st Casita ever built?
Are we getting spooked by the recent rash of frauds online?

I don't think the seller is intending to mislead, I'm just curious. I will look for the plate that should have year and GVWR etc on it when I see it-he might just have the year wrong too. Thanks for confirming that it does appear to be a Casita as I haven't seen many pics of really old ones.

About that carpet...how hard is it to replace if it needs it?

When I reread my original post I realized I sort of implied that the seller was touting it as the original or first Casita which isn't the case. I am just curious about the date mismatch and maybe a little worried about buying a very early model (or is this not something to worry about?) if that's what it is.

Was it built in Backus, Minn?

Way back several years ago, there was a Casita for sale that was built prior to the company move to Texas. We were all incredulous at first...

Anyway, I guess the 1982 could be a typo... or maybe the Casita web site isn't including the company's days in Minnesota...?

I wouldn't worry too much about the discrepancy, if the trailer's in good shape, etc.
