Trailer: 2003 19 ft Scamp 19 ft 5th Wheel
Posts: 9
We picked up our new-to-us '03 Scamp 5th wheel today. We have a Toyota Tundra off road and its bed was really high up under the front of the trailer, but we thought we could ease it home and do whatever had to be done to raise the trailer. We made it just fine the 35 miles back to our neighborhood and Darill decided to take it through the do-it-yourself car wash and get the first few layers of grime off. All was well until we were leaving and had to go down the drive of the car wash! Crunch! The support rails under the front of the trailer made two dents in the top of the tailgate of that pretty new Toyota...

Well, it could have been worse! Now I have lots of work to do!

Sorry about your Tail Gate.Congrats on new 5er.JUST A POINT,When washing trailer i would never use a presure type washing devise.Water could possibly get in at some of the areas where there are openings. Its better to wash by hand.

Good luck and enjoy

Congratulations! And now your tailgate has a custom modification, making it the perfect fit for your Scamp!

Actually, my F-150 has a custom modification in its tailgate, too... from backing the Casita with the tailgate down.

As long as you keep the Scamp hitched up, nobody will notice the dings. So, keep on camping...

This makes me think of the first ''owie'' I put on our Casita. Hadn't had it 3 days and drug the back left corner bad enough to bend the Stabilizer. Never could get it straightened out right and didn't use it, anyway, after putting corner jacks on. But, always felt stupid about that.

Have we ever had a Thread on here about ''FIRST BOOBOOS?'' Or, even other BOOBOOs?

It might be funny AND instructive to share some of these ''I hate it when I'm stupid'' Stories.

Congratulations on your trailer! Sorry about the boo-boo. That's why they make those nice diamond plate covers for the tops of tailgates, to cover bobos!

As in all things. It's not really yours until you put a scratch on it.
