We stayed in one of the NPS cabins on Cape Lookout a few years ago, not one of the few that are wired for electricity. The cabins are located on the ocean side, with only a dune between you and the Atlantic. There's
propane provided for cooking and hot water, and each cabin has a shower, flush toilet, a screened-in porch, and bunk beds with comfortable mattresses. We left the
windows open at night and had no problems sleeping, even though it was late August. The ranger station sells ice and gasoline, the latter for 4wd vehicles and a
generator, if you bring your own. We kept our food cold in an ice chest. Wonderful experience, would do it again. Bring bug spray for dusk and dawn walks.
