Hi All,

We are thinking about drifting south to meet Spring once the snow here starts to melt, about mid-March. Knowing how vulnerable our FGRVs are to break-in and theft, does anyone have experience with parking a car and trailer in or near the ports of Tampa, and/or Ft. Lauderdale?

Any words of wisdom or sage advice would be most welcome.

I would find a RV dealer and work out a storage deal.

Good luck and have fun.

What David said!!

My folks did that very thing a few years ago, when they had to cut short a camping trip in Colorado to attend my uncle's funeral in California: they towed their trailer to an RV park in Albuquerque, NM, and paid for it to stay there for a few days without them.

Call your cruise company and ask -- It's obviously a common problem for anyone who drives to a cruise and they should have locked parking right there with enough space for RVs -- I have driven by cruise ship parking lots and seen BulgeMobiles with toads parked behind the fences.

BTW, I took a tour of the Tampa airport once and learned that they have a parking level below that handles 18-wheel trucks so anyone needing to park at airport should ask.

Good suggestions! While "googling" the subject we saw a reference to parking at the airport, and wondered why deal in a plane if you are transferring straight from a car to a ship? Pete, you have erased that question mark with your info. on space for 18-wheelers.

Many thanks to all!

Just to be clear, I mentioned the airport in case someone is traveling by RV and needs to get somewhere else in a real hurry.

Also, many hospitals have RV parking and even hook-ups for folks visiting patients or getting out-patient treatment.
