Passing of a long time member of this forum
Stephen George LaBroad, 70, passed away March 11, 2020. Loving son of George (Jana) LaBroad and the late Pearl Gibson LaBroad. Adored brother of Elizabeth LaBroad, Bradlee (Peggy Appel), Amy (Kim Hamilton) LaBroad and the late Paul. Dearest uncle of Hannah Greene, Danielle (Cody) Handlir, Kenya LaBroad and Alexa LaBroad. He was an avid sailor, loved camping and restoring a 1970’s Lotus Europa. He was retired from many years at Ford Motor Company tire and wheel design division. He also had a talent for fine carpentry. He will be missed by all.
I'm sure many members here either knew Steve personally or thru his many posts. I camped with Steve a couple times a year for 15 years. Our rallies won't be the same without him.
Stay healthy and safe everyone.

Thanks, Roy, for posting Steve's obituary. His brother, Brad, did let us know about his passing, by posting on an older thread.
For those who missed (but would like to read) Brad's announcement, the older thread is called Member needs our prayers.
Such sad, sad news.

I'm very sorry to read this. Steve was a very intelligent guy and his postings in the forum were both interesting and sociable. I also enjoyed his sense of humor.
Here's a funny story that's posted on the obituary site:

I met Steve in the mid 90's when I was a young engineer at Ford. He had his quirks but I got along with him pretty well. He would carry 3x5 cards in his pocket and often, if you asked him what he thought was a dumb question, he would flash one of the cards like "go away" and the give you that cheeky grin.
Last time I saw him was 3 or 4 years ago at one of the Ford buildings:
Me: "How's it going, Steve"
Steve: "Well, I died and went up to the Pearly Gates. St. Peter looked in his book, and said 'You haven't suffered enough' so he sent me back to earth to continue as a Ford Tire Engineer"
That was Steve, in a nutshell. RIP, Steve!

Well, I'm sorry to say that he must have suffered enough at long last, most likely from reading all our stupid and ill-informed posts about trailer tire pressures!
Finally, here's a sample of the sorts of things that Steve would post, with his easy-going, self-deprecating humor. complete with a link to a bunch of corny engineer-jokes.

Sorry to hear that. Someone else I have been wondering about for awhile as I have not seen any posts in awhile is Norm and Ginny.

I just checked his user profile: Last Activity: 03-23-2020 07:06 PM, so he is still checking up on us here.
Norm was very active at the time I joined this forum after buying my first truck and Scamp, 6 - 7 years ago, and his post were very helpful to this complete newbie.
