What an environment! Yesterday at 7AM it was -25 here. This morning at the same time it was 38. That's a 63 degree climb in 24 hours. (It was -2 at 8PM last night.)

It's a kind of weather version of "May you live in interesting times!"

Further north, and up against the Rocky Mountain foothills, Calgary often sees these wild temperature rises, in the form of warm winds they call "chinooks". We don't really get them in Edmonton (further out from the mountains), but people here are often jealous of Calgary, because the chinooks can be a nice break. Not quite enough to go camping...

We've had a Pineapple Express go through in the past 24 hours. Thats warm rain pushed in from the Pacific...coming from Hawaii. It's above 50 degrees and we've received over 1.5 inches of rain in the past 24 hours. The worms are drowning!

I remember those weather swings in the Sandhills. They usually show up about the start of calving season. They are usually followed by an abrupt change and snow drifts as high as a two story window. Then all the ranchers worry about feeding the calves and the dreaded "scours".

When we lived in the sandhills in the late 70's, we still had ranch familys that would move the kids into town to attend school in case it would snow too much to make it in daily.

But there is nothing more glorious than spring in the sandhills. Enjoy and post lots of pictures please.

Keep that express B.S. down in Portland at least till sunday. I need to get to the Swap Meet in Puyallup tomorrow and hoped NOT to have to bring my bumbershoot. Meeting up with a few car buddys from Van/Portland area for launch too....
