red and green dots?

Just curious . . . when looking at the various threads I notice red or green dots by people's names. What do they mean?

Ah, makes sense. Do other people stumble around this site as uninformed as I am?

GREEN dot in lower-left corner of Name panel = This user is online now; dot is as if it were a glowing LED light.

I don't get blue dots--just red and green. Could this be another difference between being on the internet and on the app? Or is it just that you are very special?

That is a distinct possibility. I don't have a phone that does "apps" so I can't tell you definitely what icons look like in an "app". But I know that if you place your cursor over any feature on this board while on a computer on the internet, a little white block appears with an explanation of what that feature is and means. Try it.

I have an ipod so I just checked. Yes it's blue on my laptop and red on my ipod. Just another app difference. I wonder if there are more colors on different operating systems?

Yep--there are no cursors or white blocks with the iPad and the app. So I guess if we use the app, we are left to our own "devices" in trying to figure out these things. Sorry.

That's called Alt Text and identifies graphics, etc. It's part of the accessibilty rules to meet Section 508 standards when building websites: alt attribute - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The dots actually signify just how dotty the individual is.

Oh, and we have a phone just like that one. It came from my mother's house and we are saving it as an antique...along with my mid 1980s era cellular "bag" phone.
