yeah, a few years ago we took our first extensive trip in southern utah, in late spring, and pushed my F250 longbed diesel 4x4 down some dirt roads. Cottonwood Canyon was easy and hugely beautiful. Left Hand Collet Rd off of Hole in the Wall Rd was gorgeous, but such gnarly driving, that I didn't make any stops as my truck was using the whole width of the road and we were in a box canyon. My wife kept asking me to turn around, but there wasn't anywhere suitable. Somehow we made it all the way up and out the top, and returned to the Escalante area on (can't remember the name), it was a 100 mile loop of box canyons and gnarly.
here, this route:

was as far as I can remember, the ONLY time I've needed 4L on that truck, to get up a couple rock steps, 4H just couldn't push that massive front end up and over. stock sized wheels on a 2002 F250 XLT 4x4 longbed, with BF Goodrich KO2 All Terrain
tires (which I put on ALL my trucks, they are awesome).
ok, I took this ONE pic when the road widened shortly after climbing out of the box canyon, looking at the continuing canyon below.
GPS Coords and the photo is looking west.
