Rio Grande Valley RV Park?

Anybody have personal experience with RV parks in the Rio Grande Valley?

Going in December and need to be as near as possible to Rio Hondo, since my son will be hunting at the Las Paomas Wildlife Mgm't Area ~ Arroyo Colorado Unit.

Along that line, I highly recommend the '1015 RV Park' in Weslaco, about 5 miles from the border with Mexico. Quiet, clean, and well-run (for age 55+, though). I'd stay there again, but it's a bit too far from where my son will need to go ~ he'll be leaving every day well before sunrise.

Thanks!!

Try the Adolph Thomae Jr. County Park. It's operated by Cameron County, and it's not far from Rio Hondo. It's near the coast and caters to boaters, but it's a pretty nice park with full hookups for around $30. We enjoyed it.

That’s in South Padre, right?

Nope, it's just east of Rio Hondo, not on South Padre.

By the way, the Laguna Atascosa is a birding paradise, if you're into that. Plenty of other activities too, like kayaking along the channels, and great fishing.

Sounds good. I would definitely contact them as soon as possible. Sometimes the parks in the lower Rio Grande Valley get filled up with winter Texans that time of year.
