The RV Museum and Hall of Fame in Elkhart, Indiana http://www.rv-mh-hall-of-fame.org/index.html needs your help. They have very little information of Fiberglass Eggs. If you could round up your old brochures, ads or any kind of printed literature and make copies for them, it would be greatly appreciated.

Fiberglass trailers are not well represented there. It is an interesting place and about to become much more interesting. (more in a bit) It would be well worth it to the patriotic cause of small, intelligent camping to have a presence there.

But they have very little Fiberglass! They have a great molded fiberglass pop-up that was way ahead of it's time but alas, no Eggs.

When visiting today, by chance I ran into the "Historian" and "Librarian" of the museum, Al Hesselbart. A true fountain of RV information.

He had been driving by and saw my new (1986) 13ft. Scamp parked in the museum parking lot and stopped to say hi. I told him about what this web site is all about and asked about the scant info they had about our trailers. He told me that most everything is donated to the museum and he would be more than happy to receive some info. So lets see if we can put our thinking caps on and come up with something for the museum. I have an original brochure for my Trillium that I can make a copy of. (They had nothing on Trillium's.) They had some old Scamp brochures and I don't know what else but Al said they have very little about this genre. The museum has file drawers filled with information on RV's filed alphabetically and it's a great resource.

It would really be cool if someone could donate an old Boler or one of the other early Eggs.

But right now, let's see if we can stir up any interest in helping the museum represent us a little better.

This museum is worth the time to stop if you like old camping vehicles. The price is right (free) and it is about to get a great deal bigger! Check the website for the building plans. What I found out today was that 35 vintage RV vehicles are coming to the museum from a collector in California. I already want to go back!

What do you think folks?

I'm really torn...

On the one hand, I would love to see at least a Boler, with a museum quality restoration, represented there.
Maybe even a Fiber Stream.

On the other hand, I cannot forget the plot of "Toy Story 2".

Jeff, have the museum go to the Document Center on this site. Donna D. has already downloaded quite a few manuals for different trailers.

Thanks,
That's great to know. I'll look at that after I get home. The folks at the museum office don't seem to "up" on the whole computer thang.

I did notice the newest was a 1969. Thats Before fiber, the fact that fibers last longer and none are available to donate. Maybe scamp or casita will donate one.

This tread is interesting. When I met Al he owned a 1984 Mirage micro mini motorhome which I believe he sold a few years back. Soooooooo…he does know fiberglass. At that time he mentioned the museum would like any notebooks & photos of fiberglass restorations for the library.

Frederick: Then when I mentioned to Al that I had just purchased a Fiber Stream, he thought I was changing the conversation and was talking about a new breakfast cereal. (Ha, Ha).
