You can now have the same 54” bed in 13’ standard layouts. That used to be a reason to choose the 13’ deluxe, but not any more. This is an old thread and I believe the “big bed” option became available after this discussion.
But only on the 13’ models. If you’re thinking about 16’ers, then yes, you have to spring for the deluxe to get the larger bed. Note that with the 16' deluxe layout B (side dinette), ordering the large
fridge means the stove is cantilevered over the bed.
I agree the narrower bed is tight for two. With our whole family of four, we resorted to head-to-toe sleeping to make the smaller 44” bed roomier for two. My wife shared the 44" bed with one of our daughters, and I split the bunks with the other. When it’s just my wife and myself, we might cozy up to watch a movie in the rear bed, but when it’s
lights out, I move to the front bunk and she gets the rear bed to herself. In addition to space, it makes the nighttime bathroom runs easier. Small trailers entail compromises.
