Scamp 16, layout 4 but with dinette

Is it possible to have a dinette instead of the couch with layout 4?

Scamp 16, layout 4 but with dinette

Only if you do the mod yourself.

Scamp's front bench does not have a notch for the table. In my opinion, that would be a very useful and potentially popular change. If Scamp redid the front bench mold to include the notch, they could offer a choice of front bunks or a front dinette on several layouts.

The deluxe layout A is similar to the standard layout 4 and can be ordered either way.

Couch will be more comfy. Add a folding table or some such, and eat in comfort. . JMO

2nd on the couch being more comfortable. The couch's back is set at an angle vs dinettes having a vertical back. Makes a world of difference.

I decided to convert, so I removed the fiberglass bench to notch it, but decided I’d be better off simply building seats and table from wood. Additionally, the seat tops come completely off for better access to storage and it tears down to a bed. Click image for larger version

Ok.. I see I can get that in the deluxe model. How much heavier is it?

Has anyone ever asked scamp about getting a compressor fridge? The one I have in my 13 is not of much use in Florida when it gets hot.

I don't think I want to cut up my brand new camper and DIY it

But that does look like a nice job!

I believe someone reported a figure of 2-300 pounds from Scamp. Of course, the deluxe includes more cabinets, so more storage and potentially even more loaded weight.

Scamp will build the front of the deluxe layout A three ways: (1) dinette with a cabinet in the LF corner, making a child-size bed when lowered- the stock set-up, (2) dinette without the cabinet, making an adult-size bed, or (3) sofa & upper bunk, no cabinet or dinette.

I doubt Scamp will install a compressor fridge, but you might get them to delete the fridge/icebox and make some preparations for an aftermarket installation. Wouldn't hurt to talk with Kent at Scamp to see what they can do.

Oh, I thought you were wanting to modify what you have. Sorry. My dinette mod weighs no more than the goucho and fiberglass I removed. I also tore out our dry bath and put in an 11 cf 110v compressor refrigerator/freezer, since we love to cook and we don’t boondock. When on the road, a couple of frozen gallon jugs serve to keep things cold till we next plug in, where we refreeze the jugs. 1980 Scamp 16.
