scamp history

Does anyone know what year Scamp started offering the 13' with a toilet and a shower?
Thanks, Steve

In 2006 they started offering the shower in the S-13 Std. Before that the S-13 standard only had a bath, no W/H or gray water tank. I pretty sure the shower could always be ordered in a 13 DLX.

Probably at the same time they started building the deluxe. Joy A probably knows! She's got the history of Scamp memorized.

We had a 2002 13' Scamp with the toilet but no shower, no hot water, no gray tank.
Those with the toilet option are fairly scarce, those with the toilet and shower options even scarcer.
And why are you asking?

FWIW: It appears that all those with any sort of loo also had the tiny front window, making it easy to spot in ads, pics etc.

13' scamp

Hi Bob, I'm researching to find options for a small, less than 2000 lbs loaded trailer with brakes that has a shower and toilet. Both of these things require a small Grey tank and hot waterheater. I'd like to find the oldest possible to hopefully keep the price down. I know that includes patriots but there are not many of those to choose from. There seem to be lots of 13' scamps but not many with toilets and showers.
Are there any other brands to consider??

You are right, that combination is very hard to find and, as it turns out, first time RVer's often see it as the optimum trailer with everything in one small package. As a result they command a much higher price that the ones without either, much less both.

I outfitted our 2002 13' Scamp w/loo with hot water, a grey holding tank and an outside shower panel. It sold for $10k three summers ago here in SoCal.

The Q I always ask: Have you been inside a 13' Scamp with a loo? They are very small and almost mandate continual resetting of the Bed/Dinette on a Daily basis, a real bummer we thought. For that reason we sold the Scamp and bought a 13' Lil'Bigfoot, and added a water heater and an outside shower panel. Worked great with even more room.

As far as others, if you need an inside shower it's very limited.

Good Luck

They have offered the 13Scamp with a shower and toilet in the Deluxe for decades.
The 13Scamp Standard was offered with only a potty-room up until the spring of 2008. At that time the 13Scamp Standard started offering the Shower/Bath combo.
They now offer the 13Scamp Standard with a 54" wide bed as well. I think some of those are 2013s.
Of course, Between Bob and I, you will get both sides of virtually every story...
I have a 13D with shower and toilet. We have owned it for 10years, and I consider it to be the ultimate travel trailer for two. Plan to keep it as long as I can travel.

Admittedly, if the privacy factor of the front loo is of import to either or both occupant's it's easy to see how other issues can be pushed back. It's all a matter of which features have a priority.

In our case front bench seating trumped the single seat in the loo.

The shower and the closet is what did it for us. Plenty of room to sit on the bed or the couch or the dinette.

The first one was a Custom Dlx model, built in 1986. A gentleman in Kentucky enjoyed flea markets, and the markets he went to provided 15' wide spaces for the vendors. He decided he wanted a 13' camper, with a bathroom, that he could park sideways across the back of his vendor space.

He called Scamp, and asked for a 13' model with a bathroom. They told him they didn't build those. He said, basically, "Name your price." So, they named a price, and he bought it, and they built it.

Many years later, I bought this same camper from this gentleman. He was long since retired from the flea market circuit, and the camper had been sitting for years. It required extensive refurbishment, but we got a lot of enjoyment from it for several years.

It is, without question, a very small bathroom, with very limited headroom.

If I am not mistaken, Boler started production in 1968. My parents had a fairly early Boler (with the leaf spring suspension), which I towed for 5,000 miles in June of 1982, with 2 of my buddies, as a high-school graduation present to myself. We drove from Chicago to Phoenix, and all points in between, and back. Great memories...

Hard to imagine any more commonly known fact in these circles than that Bolers first came out in the 1960's.

I suggest that you stop drinking decaf in the morning, Bob!

My question was due to a post (with a typo that was later corrected) that mentioned a 1966 Scamp.

Thank You Glenn
