Seen at Scamp factory in Backus, MN

We stopped in at Eveland’s this morning to have our axle welded to the frame and to pickup an evergreen cabinet support. We were surprised at how many completed Scamps seemed to parked and waiting for pickup. We saw this one sitting off all by itself. Black trim, tiny front window, unique wheels, etc.

Guessing that’s an owner customized unit in for repairs ot upgrades. They stopped installing that small front bath window around 2015 or so.

That one might belong to the Kent Eveland. Don.

Cost to install new axle

Do you mind sharing the cost to weld the new axle to the trailer frame? I'm shopping around for a shop to do this to my 16 but don't have a feel for what a fair price to do this work. Thanks in advance, Mike

We were charged $50, one half their hourly shop rate of $100. About what I thought it would be.

that small front window

Just wondering why they stopped installing those small front bath windows. I like the natural light in the bathroom. A room with a view!🍻👵🏿😎

I've heard that they had too many problems with rain water leaking in, made worse by the force of driving at highway speeds.

BTW, The VanAir roof exhaust fan in my Scamp bathroom is never used.

Maybe- I recall someone here reported being told that by someone at Scamp- but if so, where are all the threads about leaks in front bath windows? I can’t recall more than one or two, which would be expected and on par with just about any other window.

And how could either of the reasons given- difficulty sealing on the curved front and leaks from wind-driven rain while towing- possibly apply to side bath models?

I’m inclined to think it’s really about cost or availability of that small window. My ‘08 has it over the galley, but it has since been replaced with a larger center crank out window.

We have a 16' front bath with side dinette (2005) with the small front window and really have never noticed a problem. Maybe because the water would wind up on the floor of the shower if it did leak.
