Thanks for posting this, Lora. It appears that Wilderness and FGRV ownership may not have a strong connection, but count me in as one who is still awed that this legislation passed in 1964.
Nancy and I still regularly hike and raft in wilderness areas whenever possible. Last summer we rowed our raft through the River of No Return wilderness in Idaho. In our park ranger careers we have had the opportunity to see and appreciate wonderful wilderness around the country.
As you wisely stated, the primary purpose of legislated wilderness is not to entertain humans but to protect critical habitat for all living things.
