Just got back from our first trip to the OBX in our new to us 98' Scamp. I'm grateful for all the advice I got from these forums that made our trip so enjoyable! Thanks!

Heading home from the Oregon Gathering I stopped in a viewpoint near Heceta Head Lighthouse. You can't see the lighthouse in the picture, but you can see water.

'Rigs'? They're for drilling oil in the UK. And 'trailers' are for carrying loads. I, my state-side friends, am a CARAVAN. And a rather cute one at that.

Actually, the Rig includes the trailer (caravan) and the tow vehicle (which could also be a Caravan).

Here is our little Gem

that was our first camping trip, overnight, at Stewart State Park. It was cold, wet and wonderful! So grateful we not longer have to sleep in a tent.

While old crampers, Simon and I are new to the world of Casitas. We recently purchased this 97 Casita Freedom at - where else? - a garage sale not far from our home. Now we're selling a perfectly beautiful Rialta, so that tells you our mindset. Once on site, we no longer wish to haul a rig with us wherever we go. Duh.

Here is our egg parked, not at a campsite - though it looks that way - but in our Langley on Whidbey Island backyard, about 30 miles north of Seattle. For reference: today's weather is sunny, breezy and about 74; gas $2.87/gal; milk $2.49 half gal; farm fresh eggs $2-3.50 doz; peaches $2.99 lb; PNW folks, friendly as ever.

Our first Casita adventure will be a short drive (How's 20 minutes?) to Ft Casey State Park, overlooking the Keystone Ferry dock where boats depart from our island to Pt Townsend on the Olympic Penninsula. We'll park there a night or two, and then in mid-September we'll join the eggy folks near another Langley - the Brae Island Fort in B.C. By mid-Octorber we'll be oldtimers at this and you shalll see us in northern OR for the Champoeg Park gathering.

Looking forward to meeting you, to learning from you, and having fun in our No Yoke egg.
Cheers, Sharen & Simon

It's hard to get decent interior shots of such a small trailer but here's a few.

Cool little propane light throws alot of light and heat. I put a heat deflector on to keep the roof cool.

The pop up roof is excellent! Lots of ventilation and light. Previous owner had bug screen only, but I made a new canvas top for it. The flaps can be closed for the rain.

This is my new to me 1996 13' Scamp.
The picture was taken in the Uncompahgre National Forest in Colorado.
I think I have found where I am going to vacation next year. You know there is a God in Heaven when you travel through the High Country of Colorado.
