I've somehow missed adding to this...

This is Rucio, my 1980 Burro 13-footer, in the Nebraska Sand Hills with our 03 Subaru Forester. Rucio is going to be a different color soon, and at some point next year we'll have a new car, possibly the Subaru Outback.

Small is beautiful

"Ridiculous and the Sublime"

We're in Sumter Oaks, FL heading west. Tonight we're parked next to a rig whose 3 slide outs have more volume than our trailer. It's being towed by a 24 foot long crew cab Freightliner, hard to see unless you double click to blow up the picture.

I feel we can joke about it because we once owned a Motorhome about that size. The owners are 15 year full timers.

A beauty of America, solutions for eveyone.

Lake Seminole Corp of Engineers

We're camped on beautiful Lake Seminole, a Corp of Engineers Park just north of Chatahoochee, FL. It's almost at the Central Time dateline on the GA/FL border.

It's an amazing $11 a night for Golden Eaglers...

Slowely drifting West, real slowly, averaging about 90 miles a day

Texas

We haltingly left New Iberia, LA and drove our longest distance so far to Jasper, Texas. We're in the Sandy Creek COE Park for a couple of days before beginning our cross Texas trek. It's a lovely pieceful lake and only $8 for a W/E30 amp site with your Golden Eagle.....

Rocky Creek COE Park, Lake Seminole, TX

We're at another COE park on Lake Seminole, TX. The water level here is down about 6 feet out of 280' as a result of this years lack of early rain. The lake is recovering and most of the local ranches are green.

Canyon Lake, Potter's Creek COE

At another COE park for four days, hoping to go to the Hill-a-Palooza Fiberglass Rally, hoping to move up on their waiting list. Until them we'll be here exploring the area.

The "Escape Pod" 1972 Cloud

I am adding my rig to the mix. This was taken right before I took it on its maiden voyage last summer. In the background is my not so fiberglass "Mother Ship" that I leave in a permanent spot on a lake and live in most of the warmer months. The "Escape Pod" is my mobile unit and probably one of the best things I have purchased in a long long long time. I can't wait for spring.

Seminole State Park near Comstock, TX

Seminole State Park is a gem located on US 90, a virtually deserted 2 lane road posted at 75 mph. Every hill fortunately has a passing lane so the few truckers can blast by me.

The park is near Armsitd Reservoir and at the confluence of the Pecos River (picture) and the Rio Grande. Seminole was created to protect the petroglyphs painted on the walls of large and deep overhangs in the cliffs of Seminole Canyon. (picture)

It consists of about 30 sites, half primitive and half wiith water and electricity. The park does provide wireless but for the life of me I never could get AOL to connect. The sites are located well off the highway and at the highest point in the park providing marvelous TX sunsets (picture) and leaving one exposed to strong winds, one night gusts hit 60 mph. The closest real town is Del Rio to the east, about 45 miles away with every store you can imagine.

The night sky, though not at the level of Chaco Canyon is a wonder for a person from the east. I bet I went out at least twice a night, like at 2AM, just to check on the stars.

The restrooms and showers were absolutely spotless and the nights were dead quiet. We planned for 2 nights and stayed 4 but could have stayed a month.
