Winter Wonderland

We got 8 to 10" of fresh snow last night . The blanket of snow is really pretty and tranquil. I like winter and cannot vision myself living in an area without real winter. Six months of winter makes the other seasons more precious. Heading out to shovel off the roof and driveway .My grandkids gave me a new snow shovel for Christmas with my name on it.

While we haven't had any snow here in Quartzsite, AZ over the winter, it has been one of the cooler ones, running about 10°F - 15°F cooler than normal. And, up until January, it was warmer back in my home town in upstate NY.

Not that I'm complaining - last February I had to shovel my roof (the house, not the trailer!)

We packed up our Casita and went south back in November. Now in Florida where it is sunny and in the 70's. So far this winter we have had no more than a couple inches of snow at home, near Albany NY. A couple days ago it was 50 at home. Could have stayed home this winter.

I must be in the wrong part of Arizona, because there's snow on the ground, snow on the Scamp, cars caked with salt, and 10 degrees last night.

But I'm not sick of snow. A good snowpack in the mountains now means lower fire danger and better camping in June. And it boosts our local economy by keeping the skiers coming. Let it snow!

And here in Vermont, within 100 miles of the Canadian border, it's no snow and, for the past two days, 50 degrees. Strange weather!

How many inches of snow did we get last night

My wife asked how many inches of snow we got last night, she looked at the table on the deck and said.."oh that must be 8 inches"..(I said your right)

Headed over to sweep about ten inches of snow from the roof of our Scamp in just a few minutes. It's lovely to have the snow for all the reasons Jon mentioned, but I'm a summer/fall girl myself

Got almost 30" about a week and half ago. Pouring down raining now, still over a foot on the ground in the yard, roads are clear but it is foggy foggy foggy. I guess the warm water pelting the snow is causing the fog. I love the winter too but I always miss the season that is not here. Checked on the Scamp with all this rain and she is dry. Battery was 12.47 will wait till it goes down to 12.40 and plug it in, probably in a week or so. Carl

Try Phoenix or Tuscon.

Don't I know it… I was in Phoenix last week for work and it was really nice.

My girls mention the Scamp often, so I think that means we're all itching for a camping trip. Unfortunately, between work and school, none in the forecast…

Sunny and 54 degrees up here in the great not so white north. A little warm spell and it has gotten rid of almost all the snow off of our yard. Guess I'll take the summer car for a run just to keep the fluids working. Then put it right back into storage before the big freeze next week.

Feeling you need to have winter to make spring better is very, well almost religious.

I used to have this smart young engineer working for me. When he bought himself a candy bar he would not eat it until he had gone home and washed the windows or cleaned the bathroom or whatever. To appreciate the good, or maybe to be deserving of the good, he had to do a little penance.

Of course, there's meant to be some humor in this...

Thank you , I have been called / described as many things in my life but never religious . Lent will soon be here and I will be doing penance , so I need to figure out what I will give up for Lent.
Maybe candy bars ? I like shoveling snow and I doubt I will give that up for Lent.

I do have a definite need for spring. When the warm weather comes then I can take off the knee brace and the wrist strap and walk like a normal guy. Maybe in late April or May I can put away the support cane and say thank you, thank you, amen so.....Maybe it is a religious thing ? I know that the arthritis has to be the devils work.

Winter this years is kind of upside down. in Edmonton, Alberta today, we hit +8c or about 46F. I have about 4-5" of snow in the backyard. Its more like April up here but we may pay for it yet. Hope it doesn't turn into a drought, we could use the water. Some of the lakes are pretty low. Suppose to be above freezing for the next week or so which should be the end of snow on the ground. No snow at all on the Casita.

Crazy!
