We must have the only "Stealth" Casita in the country. Picked up a 1 year old Spirit Deluxe in Corpus Christi, TX on Oct 1st. Drove from Corpus Christi to Norman, Oklahoma on the 2nd (592 miles in the daylight) and never had anyone point and smile, and no-one has mentioned our trip in any "sightings" posts on forums. Glad we are mature enough our feelings never get hurt.

I was just a'kiddin', Gina. Actually, it was kind of a relief. With that teardrop trailer we had to do a "dog and pony" show at every fuel stop or any other place we stopped. Heck, we've even been waved down to show off the teardrop.

This afternoon, just after 2 PM and just North of Wisner, Nebraska, I saw a 13' Scamp being pulled on Rt. 275 North by a maroon Blazer. The Scamp was remarkable in that it had a rack on the rear bumper which held a bicycle. Not a regular bike, though, but an exercise bike!

We saw a 13' Casita today headed North on hwy 17 just on the North side of Rhinelander WI.

We didn't catch the make and model of tow vehicle because we were so suprised to see the egg.

Time was around 11:30 central time on Sunday Oct. 7.

Texas, highway 29 between Bertram and Georgetown, early evening, still light, heading east, new, 17' casita with paper tags in the window. I was without trailer, so I was quite envious.

Don't feel bad.
We picked up our trailer just off the ocean in MA at the end of May last year, drove home through Rhode Island, New York and Ontario.
Then we made a 3 week trip out to Cape Breton Island in NS, hitting Maine, New Brunswick, PEI, Quebec and back through the Ottawa valley in Ontario.
Add in 4 fiberglass meets and a trip to Michigan.
Not to mention quite a few camping trips.
The new tires we put on are already worn out, (definitely need a new axle) and to date ...
with 8-10,000 Km of driving in the daylight - we have not seen our trailer listed as a sighting.

My goal is to never get sighted in here. Kinda a reverse psychology thing....

I would think that a sighting at a meet would not count.

I know, I should have brought my trailer, but I did not feel safe hitting the highway until I got my tires changed. There is something about not seeing the tread wear indicators that makes me nervous ... IYKWIM

Thanks for trying though

Roy

BTW, we camped next to someone over Thanksgiving weekend that knows you from work. Small world isn't it.

Roy,

Of course, I was teasing. I really hope I do have a "stealth" Casita. As proud of it as I am, I really don't want to spend my private time showing off my kitchen and bedroom to strangers! As I mentioned previously, I've built a teardrop that attracts so much attention I can shut down a gas-station doing show and tell, dog and pony shows. People even flag me down while I'm driving. As proud of it as I am, that soon begins to get tiring.

I thought that might be the situation Chris

In reality, we've seen a lot in our travels, but have not posted any.
We regularily jot down the sighting details on whatever peices of paper are in the TV, fully intending to post the details upon arrival at home. Then for some reason or another they never get posted.

I presume others encounter the same phenomena.

A sighting in Southern Indiana. On Sunday, October 7th on Hwy 62 near Leavenworth, Indiana saw a red Jeep wrangler type with big tires tugging a 16 Casita. My daughter who was driving was embarrassed by my waving and would not let me honk the horn at you. This was quite near that northern bend in the Ohio river that looks great from the overlook.
