I sighted Two Scamps today while on a round trip from San Diego to Irvine for work!
#1) While driving north on Interstate 5, just before the Canon Road exit, I saw a 16' Scamp (Side Bath) being towed West on Canon Road by a Light Green (Chartreuse?) Jeep Grand Cherokee. You were heading away from Legoland, and I lost sight of you when you went under the freeway overpass. It was about 9:40 AM.
#2) On my return trip, I had just gotten on Interstate 5 South at Bake Parkway, and at about Capistrano passed a 13' Scamp being towed by a RED Dodge Durango. I was driving the white Ford Van with San Diego Scale signs that tooted as I passed. This was about 1:25 PM. Was it you?

Heading south on Friday we saw a white Casita 17 with white TV in the rest area about 608 mp on I-5. They looked to be still sleeping at 7:30am so didn't honk. Last night we were passed by another Casita 17 heading north. We stopped at the casino near Corning for the evening and they went on. Nice quiet night in their free parking. If you park towards to field on the side, even the trucks turn off their fridge units and it is really quiet. I just hope we don't see too much white stuff as we head over the pass towards home on the end of our last trip of 2007.

While wandering today, and checking out other campgrounds near the one I am at, I happened upon one of our own, The Rudds from San Diego, and their 17' Casita in the Laguna Campground.
I stopped and was pleasantly surprised to find out I had actually met them before at the Oregon gathering in 06. I had to embarrassingly tell them I was the one with the tent in B loop (You guys probably don't remember, but I visited EVERY site there that year)
We had a nice chat and I sure wish I had known about this campground, I may have just gone there.
While we were chatting, a sparkly brand new 21 foot Bigfoot cruised through, but I don't think they stayed.

On my way home from the desert today, with my Fiber Stream in tow, I was passed by 2 fiberglass trailers, amongst all the big toy haulers.
First one was a 16' Scamp, a rental owned by the Navy/Marine Corps MWR (Morale/Welfare/Recreation) department.
It was being pulled by a Dodge Dakota Pickup with a dirt bike in the bed. The driver waved back at me as he passed.
The second one was another Fiber Stream being pulled by a GMC Sierra Pickup with a quad runner in the bed.

I ran into a 16 foot Scamp with a #4 on the back of it at the gas station in Ocotillo. We were both waiting.. waiting...waiting.. and gave up, there were so many toy haulers in line filling their tugs and all their toys. (I had enough gas to get to El Centro, where I only waited 5 mins LOL!)
It was the same one we all saw going by the ranch just as we were prepping to leave.

Saw something I couldn't quite figure out on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving...on Hwy 41/46 east of Paso Robles, a red truck pulling a flat red (not shiny red) 16' or 17' fiberglass trailer. It looked like it had a window in the front covered by a rock guard or whatever you call them, but from the back it looked like a Casita. It also had an A/C on top that looked like mine--but red! I didn't get a good look because it passed me going the other way. What was it?

Where - Quartzsite, AZ Main Street
When - Tuesday afternoon
What - Casita pulled by a white Volvo
Where - Quartzsite, La Posa South LTVA (Long Term Vistor Area ... best dry camping deal around - $180 for 7 MONTHS!)
When - when we arrived to select our boondock site
What - an '84 Boler pulled by a blue Plymouth minivan. We stopped to visit with them today - owner just bought the trailer from her Dad and is visiting Q
from Bullhead City, AZ. Told her all about this wunnerful website, AND the 2008 Oregon Gathering. Couldn't give her a card since I must order
some more from the Sanders', but she was very excited to meet more 'glassers and learn more about our trailers.
Always on the lookout for more FGRV's! Wishing everyone a happy Holiday Season filled with blessings! L 'n D

And around noon on Oct 21 we spotted an eerie near-convergence of Scamps in Half Moon Bay, CA. We had driven hundreds of miles and our only FBG sighting was a single Bigfoot... Then while walking near an intersection on Hwy 1 we saw a 5th wheel headed east, a 16 footer headed south, and another 16 footer headed north, all within one minute!
|
The 16 footer headed north was us!
We did see the 5th wheel headed east on 92 and the 13 or 16 footer going south.
Funny thing is that we had just been saying that we have never-ever seen any other Scamps!
Were you the couple (maybe red head) who smiled and waved near Safeway/McDonalds at Hwy 1 & 92?!

Hi all,
We are posting our first time sighting message.
Where: New Port, Oregon, parked on the street near the Performing Arts Center
When: Sunday, December 9, 2007
What: White Parris Pacer (13 ft?) pulled by white GMC Jimmy
A beautiful pair, the Pacer had nice blue ribbon painted on it
We were in town celebrating our 10th night in our new '08 Escape!
Great winter camping!
Cheers, all

Yes, that was us! We wondered whether you'd have any idea why we were waving, but we just can't resist when we see a cute little fiberglass trailer. Hope you had a great trip!

Just south of Yreka, Saturday, Dec. 22, Bigfoot towed by a navy blue pickup, about 11 AM.
Around Medford Oregon, same day, Bigfoot camper.
Both southbound as I was northbound.

And today, about 9:15 AM, headed south from Freeland, I think it was a Casita! Right here on Whidbey Island. Was it YOU?
