Snowbirds and DEERS
Just a reminder for those who qualify. (military)
Snowbirds Will Need to Update DEERS
Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System
The snow isn't set to fly for quite a while (we hope) but it's not too soon to remind AMRA members who use TRICARE and who relocate seasonally, or who have permanently moved, that they need to make sure their contact information in DEERS is current to ensure their health care follows them to their new address. Please note that survivors whose sponsors have died become responsible for making DEERS updates. Other factors that require an update in DEERS are becoming eligible for Medicare (age 65), marriage, remarriage or divorce, birth, adoption or death of an eligible child, or a change in their school enrollment status.
Making changes to DEERS information is easy and can be done online at MilConnect, by fax or mail, or in person at the nearest uniformed services identification card office. Get more information on how to Update DEERS .
Please note that some updates require supporting documentation: marriage licenses, birth or death certificates, Medicare cards or DD-214 discharge forms. Be sure to bring copies of all paperwork that might be needed when updating DEERS information. Learn more at TRICARE Eligibility .
