I have friends that were in the "Hospitality" business for several years. They owned a Victorian Bed & Breakfast Inn for 5 years. Then they managed a Motel for two years. Finally, they were the maintenance crew for an upscale RV park. That lasted only a year, after a dispute with the owner...

They report that the dificulties reported above applied to each of their properties.

I knew a couple that went for the "dream" of owning a hotel in Hawaii!

After three years they came back. It was all work no play and constant people problems.

I guess the key here is to stay away from people.
