Smile Sorry I will be leaving soon

I have been a member of this forum for years. I am sad to say I will be leaving soon. Before I go, I'd like to give you a little tip to save money. Don't buy the Mega Millions ticket for this week's jackpot. I just purchased the winning ticket. I usually spend $2, but this week I doubled it.

This is why I will be leaving. A billionaire can't be seen hanging around the little folks.

You had me hooked. So glad you’re leaving this way instead of a health problem.

Hi Jack----sorry to hear that. However, it appears that I, too, will be leaving. The clerk who sold me my ticket, told me IT was the winning ticket.

Seems we'll be sharing the jackpot. Sorry for your luck---you will only be getting half.

A 75 yr old Billionaire came to the Bar with his gorgeous 25 yr old wife!
Friend: "How did you convince her to marry you?"

Billionaire: "I lied about my age!"

Friend: "You said 58?"

Billionaire: "No! I told her I was 90"

The question is not whether or not you are lucky, it’s whether or not you got lucky.

I ran into a guy at the store yesterday. He said he plays the lottery every week, but does it just on paper. Never buys an actual ticket. He's saved a lot of money over the years, but said that if his numbers actually hit it would cause him some grief. Little likelihood though. I liked his approach.

I have met two/three lottery winners in my life. One was the parents of a lady who was in a training seminar with me. They were from Ohio and won 2 million.

The second was the father of the man who succeeded me as Scoutmaster. He worked at the shipping department at Quaker Oats in Cedar Rapids. He was a weekly contributor to what they named the “Shipping 21”. They split somewhere around 20 million. When he got his share he immediately put two nice chunks of it in a trust for a college education for his 2 grandkids.
It turned out bittersweet and fortunate at the same time. The two kids were like 13 and 10. The boy was in the Scout troop. A few years later their dad, my successor had a burst aortic aneurism and died at age 48 in about 4 hours. So the kids had college covered but lost their dad.

Life can have some twists and turns for sure. Personally I won $40 on a multiple scratch ticket bingo game. I gave each of my kids $13 and my wife the remaining $1. And I’ve played scratch tickets less than 25 times in my life.

I spent that Mega Millions 1.5 billion jackpot all night long. I had fun. I suppose had I bought a ticket I might actually have won...but I seriously doubt it.

Actually the only gambling I ever do is at the race track, and then I win because I understand horses. But when you bet 2 bucks on the odds on favorite, you don't get much back in return.

We like to see those Ponies run too. The setup At Prairie Meadows near Altoona Iowa is pretty nice.
The night after I go I never have a problem starting my camp fire with all the loser tickets.

When I was selling turf and landscape supplies we had a customer who had a cabin where millipedes came in by the hundred onto his cement patio in the spring. We sold a spray concentrate for roaches and other ground crawling insects. It was developed to keep them from getting into houses. This included carpenter ants.

We always encouraged customers to read and follow the instructions for the things they bought. This was an over the counter product that did not require a certified applicator. The instructions were for the user to lay down a band of mixed spray around the building about 10 feet wide. Later we learned that this particular customer sprayed the whole property . When he came up to his cabin for Memorial Day and intended to harvest some peonies for his mother’s grave, he found he had no open blooms on the peonies but with huge waxy buds unopened.
And no ants.

The result of this kind of widespread misuse and the “effectiveness” of some of chemicals that they are either now “off the market” or a restricted use pesticides.

And the United States could take a page out of Canada’s playbook on chemicals in general in my opinion.
No ants, no blooms and maybe years later a bigger problem. Food for thought.
