Where do you have your spare tire?

If it is mounted to the back of you egg - how is it mounted?

If it not on the back, what do you do with it?

I'm asking these questions because:

1. Mine was mounted on the back - bolts leaked, wood rot - yuk yuk yuk

2. Wanting ideas on how to do this better.

I carry mine in the back of the truck. Easy to remember to check the tire pressure, when I store it in the garage... because I'm touching the tire, I remember!

My Fiber Stream has 12" wheels; total diameter of wheel and tire is about 25".
When I bought it, a previous owner had made a cargo hatch under the starboard (right, or curbside) bunk; 9" tall by 27" wide.
This was a perfect size to put the spare tire inside, under the bunk.

My tongue weight was only 7% though. In order to increase it to 10% and open up space in that cargo compartment,
(I like to call it "the basement") I moved the spare to underneath the tongue, using a simple spare tire bracket.

This works well because of my "flipped" leaf spring suspension, gaining ground clearance.

I carry mine in the camper shell of my truck. I bolted a piece of plywood with a carpet mat on top of tire to make a step to get into the trailer that helps my dog climb in trailer.

I made a bracket from some 1X1 tubing a bit of pipe and some bolts and washers. When mounted on the rear bumper with the spare in place it's very stable.

I LIKE this idea! And to think I had a step welded to the frame (and I have to be careful to make sure it doesn't get scrapped off) and the solution to a step was in the back of my truck

Great double-duty solution

On the Casita it's mounted on the back. But every boat we had has always had it mounted like Fredericks is mounted. No problems!

Alf, I have the same problem.
Until I was about 39, many years ago, I had a 34" waist. When I turned 40 my stomach muscles took premature early retirement and it's been a losing battle ever since. Actually I've lost the battle.
