Spring is on its way ... Sandhill Cranes flying North!

Well it's not a very good video, (I shot it with my phone) BUT you can HEAR the Sandhill Cranes as they fly NORTH, yes that's right NORTH, over the Dallas Fort Worth area.

That's the way it always is with the Sandhill Cranes, I hear them before I see them. Even when I see them, they are so high up and swirling in formations that it's kinda hard. But it's definitely a sign SPRING is on the way ... finally!

They may return sooner than we think.
It is supposed to be in the 50's and sunny in Northern Wisconsin next week .It is fun to watch the geese try to swim in the puddles that are on top of the ice. All too soon it will get hot ,muggy and buggy and I will be wishing it was winter again .

I'll stay alert for them (Austin area)! I'm usually out walking or biking and it is the same for me; I can hear them and then have to search them out in the sky. However, the last two weeks have just not been conducive to being out and about. After the big rain tonight and tomorrow (Monday), there are finally some warm spring days with no rain in the forecast.
Seen a few mountain laurel in bloom as well and the redbuds are going strong.

It's the tundra swans we are watching for in this area, next to Lk Huron, SW Ontario.

Eventually the sandhill cranes/geese/swans/ducks etc will head into this part of the world. On the plus side - I saw some honest to gosh water yesterday in the centre of a small creek!
