Ouch is right! I guess he didn't know to hit the trailer brakes.

"He said the trailer rolled onto its side because of poor weight distribution and the driver's inexperience with hauling a trailer"'

### AND ### I wonder how much of a factor his speed was.

Red face

We saw a fifth wheel that had done the same thing up in Paso Robles. The truck was, apparently, attached correctly - it was hanging from the upsidedown trailer.

I didn't get photos of THAT one, but check this out. Or this. Or this gooseneck version.
And my favorite - in which the entire fifth-wheel assembly tore off the trailer (this one's a commercial trailer, not a house trailer).

So...don't think you're immune just because you've got a 5er!

Speed, load and the side of the road, Baby - a bad combo with ANY rig.

Agreed that 5ers / goose necks are NOT immune. Not at ALL!!

I **DO** like that quote "Speed, load and the side of the road" - so true.

BUT - a 5er / goose is inherently more stable. And more forgiving. The TRICK is to NOT then push the limit until that stability factor is moot. Slow and steady is always better....

Happy Trails!
