Ok, why are regular trailers called sticky? Or are they?

Because they typically have a wood (stick) body framework with metal or fiberglass panels (and silicone) screwed (or stapled) to the wood. When they start leaking (and they will) think "dry rot." Some "sticky" RVs have an aluminum framework, but the panels will still leak.

'cause they are built of sticks of wood (usually a pretty low grade wood at that)

Because they're made of "sticks".

The major construction is framed something like your house. The framing material is usually wood around 2x2" is size. The inner and outer covering are then attached to the wooden frame.

Well, thank you. I learned a lot. Didn't know they were made of wood. I thought they were made of plastic siding over metal.

First little Piggy built a house of straw and the big bad Wolf blew it down.
Second little piggy built his house of sticks and covered it with thin metal panels. The big bad Wolf blew it down.
The Third Little Piggy built his house from FIBERGLASS and it has lasted to this day.

Some of them do have metal frames instead of wooden ones. Airstream, for example, has aluminum skin on aluminum framework.

I had a Jayco 16' with fiberglass panels on wooden frame and a slow leak from water heater led to dry rot and Carpenter Ants.
